Lindsay (Liang) Ma earned her M.A. degree in Communication Studies from New Mexico State University. She is pursuing her Ph.D. with an emphasis in Public Relations. Lindsay’s research interests include conflict resolution, crisis communication, negotiation, and persuasion. Her research mainly regards two aspects: how organizations can reach their external publics when conflicts take place, assess the risks of conflicts turning into crises, and solve the conflicts before they deteriorate into crises; and the psychological barriers of the public which prevent them from better preparing for emergencies, such as natural disasters, when they are exposed to great risks. Her recent research focuses on how organizations can effectively use social media to protect their reputation and rebuild their relationships with their publics during crises.
